New Peoplemaking by V Satir This is a great basic book on how we people operate. A Little Book on the Human Shadow by Robert Bly To Love Is to Be Happy With by Barry Kaufman This is a great book, which give a wonderful strategy for being happy. It teaches the options process, a great technique for exploring your beliefs. Beliefs are often the cause of ones unhappiness. It's Easier Than You Think : The Buddhist Way to Happiness by Sylvia Boorstein. Go to William's review.
Thoughts without a Thinker by Mark Epstein, Hardcover. Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, Hardcover. Paperback, Great information on learning to draw, the best, but it also teaches us to expand the use of the right side of our brain. We are a left brain dominate culture and can use a little balance.
Games People Play by Eric Berne For the most part these are not healthy games, but learning to recognize them can save your life. You will find yourself, family and friends on these pages. Eric has given the games easy names, hooks to remember them by e.g.. Ain't It Awful. And Why Don't You--Yes But. Berne was one of the founders of Transactional Analysis and this is a basic handbook. Focusing by Eugene Gendlin, Paperback Cassette Tape Version This short simple book gives you a technique for connecting directly to your body and asking it questions about what is going on with it. It can be very useful and is a great way to come home to yourself. Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy : A Manual of the Experiential Method (Practicing Professional) by Gendlin I haven't read this version, but it looks good. The Einstein Factor : A Proven New Method for Increasing Your Intelligence by Wim Wenger and Richard Poe Want to become a genius. Here's how. As silly as that sounds -- Wenger produces. There's one chapter that teaches you how to read books at a page per second. I find it quite useful. Lots of exercises, lots of explanations, lots of fun. Easy. Iron John by Robetrt Bly, Hardcover Paperback Cassette Tape Version This is a story about men therefore it would be useful for everyone who is a man, teaches boys or interacts with males to read it. This is the 40,000 year old story, Iron John, with lots of conversation on what it means to our development from boy to man. Totally apart from its content it is a very good primer on how to mine the treasure that is stored in fairy tales. Bly's premise is that cultural wisdom is passed down to us in story and that fairy tales are one of the really potent places to store the information. Joseph Campbell says the same about myths. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, Hardcover Paperback Cassette Tape Version Another Cassette Tape Version I don't recommend the tapes so much because one of the most useful parts of the book is a list of diseases and ailments with the possible mental/emotional cause with an affirmation that can be used to correct the imbalance. I use this chart all the time. The rest of the book is fine as well and has sold a bunch of copies. The Heart Aroused : Poetry and the Preservation of the Soul in Corporate America by David Whyte, Hardcover Paperback Cassette Tape Version I love this book. It gives a good feel for an active soul in the world. It is also another book like Iron John that demonstrates how story can help us. The story in this case is Beowolf. The Ultimate Athlete : Re-Visioning Sports, Physical Education and the Body by George Leonard George Leonard is a writer who at a relatively old age came to sport in the form of the martial art Aikido. The book really helps to look at what is good in sport. Many were destroyed by gym classes--this goes a long way to healing those wounds. He'll introduce you to some amazing folks. Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman, Paperback Cassette Tape Version This is a fictionalized version of Dan's experiences meeting a magical mentor. It is fun and very useful for changing the way you live you life. Check out the reviews by the people who read the book. They are amazing. The Life You Were Born to Live : A Guide to Finding Your Life Purpose by Dan Millman This wonderful book by Millman is the cleanest I have found for numerology. He just looks at one piece of it but it is so important to people.
