David Spangler is this mystic. He is a teacher and writer on spiritual matters. For his own pleasure and as a gift to friends, he has been writing an annual Christmas story for years, which he would send out to friends.

The Story Tree is a collection of those stories. They are wonderful.

Most of the stories start out a long way away from the traditional Christmas story with little connection to Christmas it seems, but all the stories wind their way to a conclusion revealing often a deeper insight into the Christmas spirit.

I love the stories.

I love them so much that I didn't tear through my copy and read them all at once. I parsed them out slowly so I could extend my pleasure.

I pick up the book in early December and slowly read through to Christmas Day.

The stories often make me cry, elbow belly laughs out of me, and always touch my heart.
