Sacred Landscapes

coral casino

In my imaginations, the Coral Casino inhabits the Great Gatsby era of high rollers and flashy cars. I studiously avoid the facts.

For at least the last 15 years or so, the Coral Casino fills the role of fitness club and wedding reception site for the very elegant and most posh 1930's Biltmore Hotel in Santa Barbara, California.

In this image, the ocean sometimes crashes just to the right, and the grounds proper of the Biltmore begin on the other side of the hedge on the left side of the image.

Locals and guests come down in the evenings to watch the sunset here at the romantically named Butterfly Beach. I come in the early mornings for taiji with the pelicans and the dolphins.

Oh, and the Coral Casino is indeed painted coral.
