For some reason, these ancient granaries in Canyonlands National Park, Utah move me. I was and still am surprised by how they continue to talk to me. People just like you and me stored their food for the long winters here. When you look into the shaded dark of the cave, you can make out two "brick" structures, circular in nature, built into the native sandstone. Looking closely, you will discern a small rectangular opening in each of them that acts as the doorway into the granaries. They are small, no more than 18 inches wide and 24 high (46 cm x 60 cm). |
